The Swedish Feminist Initiative which has not yet won a seat in the Swedish parliament
has won a seat in the European parliament. It campaigns on paternity leave, already far exceeding what is provided for in SA. Its leader Gudrun Schyman is the former leader of the Left Party (successor to the Communist Party) and publicly known as a recovering alcoholic. What is impressive in Sweden, at the time when I met Schyman in the early 21st century is that every now and again she would take a binge and the response of everyone with whom I spoke, was that it was her business, not an issue around which the public should judge her as a politician.
